4 Victims Shot at Howe Park - Unlawful Gathering Erupts in Gunfire
On Saturday evening, an unauthorized gathering of an estimated several hundred individuals at Howe Park in Sacramento County's Arden-Arcade neighborhood became the scene of a shooting when an estimated 20 to 25 gunshots were discharged as law enforcement officers were working to dispersing the crowd.
What Happened
Just after 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County Sheriff was notified concerning subjects possibly armed with concealed weapons at the park. Another caller reported a potential physical confrontation and individuals running from the park.
Aerial units was dispatched and swept the area but did not locate an active fight.
Even so, hundreds of individuals had come together at Howe Community Park for what law enforcement classified as an unapproved assembly. Officers encircled the park, activated emergency lights, and used roughly 15 minutes commanding the crowd to clear out over their vehicle speakers.
As officers worked to clear the park, between 20 and 25 shots rang out — sending hundreds of people running in a panic.
Those Injured
Four victims — a female and three male victims, ranging in age through their 20s — were transported to area hospitals. Two were classified with immediate injuries, one was classified with moderate injuries, and one had minor injuries. All four were listed as stable. The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District was on scene and assisted at the more info location.
At the Scene
The shooting took place along the Cottage more info Way side of the park alongside the Home Depot store at the 2200 click here block of Howe Avenue. The nearby Home Depot was put under a brief lockdown. More shell casings were identified on Cottage Way, with projectile damage found in the wrought iron fencing bordering the Home Depot — indicating rounds fired in a southerly direction from Cottage Way toward the Home Depot. CSI units and detectives processed the scene into the night.
Arrests and Detentions
Via scanner radio traffic, it was Home Depot Sacramento shooting indicated that a vehicle connected to the shooting — identified as a Kia — was intercepted in Solano County with four individuals detained. Sheriff's deputies were heading to Solano County to pick up the suspects and take them back to Sacramento County for investigation. Footage confirmed that two individuals website fired weapons.
